Background:
In 2020 I've started the Government of Canada R4GC data science community of practice in GCCollab with the purpose of teaching contemporary data analysis tools for my colleagues from other government departments. In our community's efforts to leverage data science to improve public service culture and operations, I helped develop several Web Apps to visualize various Open Canada Data.
These Web Apps helped me to gain valuable insights into the challenges my colleagues face in various departments across the government. Some of these Web Apps and Insights are listed below and further discussed in sub-pages.
Web App: Public Service Employee Survey (PSES) Results Tracker (Developed by Dmitry Gorodnichy in 2019)
Insights gained:
"Analyzing and improving the CBSA performance using PSES data: Data Science Way", Submission to the Culture Division in the Chief Transformation Officer Branch, October 2019
"Where is the highest Fear of Reprisal and Why?", Data Evidence for Discussion, May 2021 (Updated: July 2024)
Web App: Open Canada Vital Statistics (Deaths) Tracker App (Developed by Dmitry Gorodnichy in 2021)
Insights gained:
"Some observations from Canadian Vital Statistics Death (CVSD) Database related to the Elephant in the Room", Submission to the Lancet journal, January 2022
"Examples of Manipulating Evidence to Fit Political/Industry Interests. Case study: PHAC ‘Cases Following Vaccination’ Reports", Data Evidence for Discussion, November 2022
