Questions:

Hi Dmitry,

Did I miss what region and group you're in?

Could you share here where you stand on the following?

1) Striving for all parents to be topped up to 93% for 12 months, whether their new child came out of their body or not?

2) Making whole of those who were put on LWOP due to the COVID vaccination mandate, or injured from the COVID shot?

3) Improved whistleblower protection and strong scientific integrity culture, especially near the top of the federal public service?

Thank you for your questions.

I am SE-RES-03 (Senior Research Data Scientist reporting directly to Director - equal to Manager level, also Acting Manager in the past) in CBSA in NCR (Vanier Towers)

1. Clearly parents need to be with their children when they are born and it must not be a hard choice to make for the parents. If this is not the case yet, this is just wrong. I also think this could be "low hanging fruit" for the union to be able to make it happen - If you're ok, I'll follow up with you on that later to learn more.

2. It is now admitted in court [e.g. PSAC vs. Canada Post, May 2024] that the government vaccination mandates were NOT based on scientific or economic evidence. I could also easily see it myself, as Data Scientist - simply by looking at the PHAC published 'Cases following vaccination' data myself (see https://open-canada.github.io/Apps/vitals, which is App I built with my GC colleagues at Lunch and Learn back in Fall 2021). But we were not allowed to talk about what we saw. (See also 3 below). If members got injured or suffered from these mandates, it is very bad and it's Union's responsibility to help them, starting for the public statement acknowledgement of the facts and assisting filing individual grievances - on top of the mandate policy grievance which the Union filed in April 2022.

3. Similarly, the data evidence (https://open-canada.github.io/Apps/pses - another App that I built) shows that there's a major Political / Industry interference problem in Units tasked with government policies and market product evaluations - such as PHAC, Health Canada, EEEC, CBSA, Telecommunications - The "Fear of Reprisal" (Question 36 in PSES 2018) is always the highest in those units. See, for example, image attached for PHAC Pandemic Preparedness unit. And - it is not correlated with "Harassment" ( as some may think). We know exactly, where this Fear stems from - it is from speaking up against the on-going practices of "cherry-picking" or "fitting" evidence to "desired narratives or market product". I experienced it myself at CBSA, and talked to several colleagues from mentioned departments who experiences the same. Again, in my opinion, its should be one of highest priorities of our Union's to speak on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves because of fear of being fired - so that make this problem known to all Canadians (who would naively believe all government policies are based on science and evidence, whereas, in fact, unfortunately the opposite is often the case - the "evidence" and "science" is often adjusted to "fit" polices, in particular in mentioned above agencies
